A fine winter gem by one of the most important artists of the Cape Ann school. Aldro Hibbard was a founding member of teh Rockport Art Association, which today is housed in his former studio. Hibbard studied at the Boston Museum School with Edmund Tarbell, Frank Benson, Joseph DeCamp, and Philip Leslie Hale. He was an active member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Rockport Art Association, the North Shore Art Association, and the Copley Society. He was elected into the National Academy in 1933 and exhibited widely, winning countless awards. Hibbard also kept a studio in Jamaica, Vermont, and became famous for his winter landscapes painted en plein air.
