Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Jane Jarvis Pearson first painted miniatures. In 1908 she traveled with her family to Paris whre they lived for six years. Durng this time she studied and painted in France, Holland and England, exhibiting at the Royal Academy in London and at the Paris Salon. In 1915 she came to Provincetown to study with Charles Hawthorne, creating fine colorful impressionist paintings of the coast, harbor, gardens, and mudhead portraits.
