Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Edith Scott studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Art School with Edmund Tarbell, Frank Benson, and Phillip Hale. She kept a studio in the Fenway Studios in Boston, and spent summers painting on Cape Ann. In about 1911, she was painting in Giverny, and upon her return to the United States, became an instructor at Miss Porter's School in Farmington. She was a member of the Copley Society and exhibited at Vose Galleries, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Society of Independent Artists. Her portrait of Amelia Earhart is in the National Portrait Gallery.
