Emily Burling Waite (1887 - 1962)

Massachusetts artist Emily Waite studied at the Worcester Art Museum, the Boston MFA, and the Art Students League. Her teachers included Phillip Leslie Hale, Hermann dudley Murphy, Frank Luis Mora and Frank Vincent DuMond. She received a traveling scholarship from the Boston MFA and painted throughout Europe, exhibiting at the Salon des Beaux Arts in 1911. She was a charter member of the North Shore Art Association, the National Association of Women Artists, the Newport Art Association, and the American Artists Professional League. She also exhibited at the National Academy, the PAFA, and the Pan-Pacific Expo in 1915, winning a silver medal. Her works are in many museum collections.
