Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Goodwin later lived in Old Chatham, New York, and in Boston. Goodwin became known for his scenes of Boston streets in oils and pastels. A member of the Guild of Boston Artsts, he exhibited at the Boston MFA, Vose Galleries, Doll & Richards, the National Academy, and many more.
