Born in Philadelphia, Edith Stevens later lived in Hartford and in Gloucester. She studied with Albertus Jones, Harry Leith Ross, and George Elmer Brown. She was a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Art, the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Rockport Art Association, the Springfield Art League. and the Gloucester Society of Artists.
