a soft small landscape that captures the essence of old lyme impressionism. born in gloucester, massachusetts, robinson studied at the massachusetts normal art school and then in paris at the academie julian. he summered in old lyme beginning in 1905, becoming a year-round resident in 1923. robinson was elected into the national academy in 1907 and made a full academician in 1911. he taught at the pennsylvania academy, columbia university, and connecticut college. his works are in the collections of the national gallery, the carnegie institute, the cleveland museum of art, and the florence griswold museum.
