A small gem by an important New York artist most closely associated with the Cragsmoor art colony on the Hudson. A member of the National Academy, Curran first came to Cragsmoor in 1903 and established his own studio there in 1910. He is best known for his paintings of dramatic clouds and rocky cliffs, often with young women wearing flowing white dresses set against this powerful landscape. Curran exhibited widely, winning numerous awards. His works are in many museums including the Metropolitan, the Smithsonian, and Vassar College.
