tonalist painter and etcher, Robertson Mygatt was born in New York City. He studied at the Art Students League with John Henry Twachtman and William Merritt Chase, and was close friends with John Francis Murphy. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Boston Art Club, the American Society of Artists, and the American Watercolor Society. He exhibited widely including at the World Columbian Expo., the National Academy, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
