Martha Cahoon learned painting and decorative arts from her father Axel Farham. The family moved from Boston to Cape Cod when Martha was ten. Martha married artist Ralph Cahoon in 1931, and the couple began selling painted furniture and antiques, and later, paintings on canvas. Her work is featured at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit, the former home and studio of the Cahoons.
