Ivan Summers (1884 - 1964)

Most closely associated with the Woodstock art colony, Ivan Summers was born in Mt. Veron, Illinois. He studied at the Saint Louis School of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in NYC. His summer studies in Woodstock began around 1913, where in 1920 he became an instructor and then director at the ASL summer school there. A member of the Salmagundi Club and many more pretigious art clubs, he exhibited widely and won numerous awards.
