A well-listed artist and a Nantucket treasure, Hoffmeier graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1909 and stayed there as an instructor for a few years. She studied in Boothbay Harbor with Henry Snell, on Nantucket with Frank Swift Chase, and in Gloucester with Hugh Breckenridge. From 1929 on she kept a studio on Nantucket and in 1945 was a founding member of the Nantucket Art Association along with Frank Swift Chase. Her works are in the collection of the Nantucket Historical Society.
